The Long Bridge Park Advisory Committee released its final report on the proposed Long Bridge Aquatic Center. The general recommendations essentially include reducing the amenities just enough to fit within the remaining budget of $64 million.

The Advisory Committee was tasked by the County Board in March 2015 with supporting civic engagement efforts, evaluating results, and helping to develop final recommendations. The County Board will now review these recommendations and those provided by the County Manager.

FoAHP views our close Long Bridge Park neighbor as a wonderful destination park that currently offers outdoor recreational facilities with multipurpose/soccer fields and a playground slated for completion in the near future.
We also see it as an opportunity to continue with outdoor recreation facilities, rather than a large indoor aquatics center, where some of the Virginia Highlands Park recreational areas could be relocated to open up green space and parkland that is sorely needed at VHP.
